What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Clerk / Asst. Bookeeper position at Port Security Services?
We are seeking a self-motivated PAYROLL CLERK / ASSISTANT BOOKKEEPER. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate professional oral/written communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and possess a strong attention to detail.
A complete working knowledge of QuickBooks is required.
JOB is PART-TIME -- Monday - Wednesday (8am to 4PM) - 24 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- MAIN FUNCTION as PAYROLL CLERK: Prepare and process employee payroll through QuickBooks

- Review all employee clock in/out and balances with required Daily Activity Report/s
- If discrepancies are found, work with Security team to reconcile for proper payroll processing and client billing
- Once completed, work with Full-Charge Bookkeeper to ensure payroll is properly processed
- Handle and resolve any employee calls regarding payroll
- Payroll is Weekly
- Review all employee clock in/out and balances with required Daily Activity Report/s

- AS NEEDED as ASSISTANT BOOKKEEPER (ONLY AFTER PAYROLL IS COMPLETED): Main Job - To Assist Current Full-Charge Bookkeeper:

- Process accounts payable and receivables. Including invoicing and collecting payments from clients
- Prepare checks, payments and bank deposits
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial payroll reports and other custom reporting
- Prepare and process 1099s and W2s
- Research and fact-finding
- Special projects as assigned

JOB is Part-Time BUT could evolve to Full-Time if work requires OR to cover current Full-Charge Bookkeeper during vacations/unexpected leaves. Flexibility is key.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of three (3) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience mainly PAYROLL using Quickbooks is required.
- NOTE: ALL new hires for this position is considered TEMPORARY for the first month...to duly determine you working knowledge of Quickbooks and payroll functionality.
- Mastery and expert skills and experience in QuickBooks
- Capacity to work with little supervision, a positive attitude, with strong organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to plan, organize and execute tasks in an efficient and dependable manner according to the business needs and business objectives
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Dependable, self-starter and motivated
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
- Team player, positive attitude and a problem solver
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Internet savvy
