Location: Richmond, VA
Salary: $22/hr Year 1, $28 /hr after 1 year employment - (New Union Contract Date of February 1, 2027 - expected pay increase)
Virginia International Terminals is seeking a skilled laborer to operate a variety of industrial equipment such as forklifts, tractors, trucks, vehicles and cranes as well as data entry clerks/checkers.
We are currently hiring for a number of positions, but typically we cross-train employees in multiple jobs to include- dock worker, forklift operator, yard truck operator, checker. We are seeking employees who can:
· Work a varying schedule in terms of daily hours and days of the week
· Safely operate a variety of industrial equipment to lift, move, and position cargo/containers.
· Safely follow directions to complete operations
· Observes load hookup and determines safety of load. Positions forks or spreader bars under, over, or around loaded pallets, containers, or goods, and transports load to designated area. Unloads or stacks load by raising or lowering lifting device.
· Ensure compliance with all security, safety and environmental regulations and policies within work area at all times. This includes properly addressing issues through action or reporting issues and concerns to Manager.
· All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Ability to lift, carry, move items up to 40 pounds.
· Ability to work on your feet for up to 4 hours at a time
· Ability to climb ladders and onto and over equipment.
· Ability to make quick decisions in an ever-changing environment.
· Ability to establish a plan of action and coordinate efficient execution.
· Ability to inspire others to accomplish goals and encourage high standards of performance.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience specific to container terminal operations or maritime transportation
Employees will be subject to fit for duty physical before start of position
