What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Intern position at Port of Tacoma?
This internship will assist the Port’s Engineering team by managing and cataloging engineering drawings, supporting construction management activities and updating the Port’s survey monument catalog. Tasks may include determining retention procedures for drawings, assisting Project Managers by working on submittals, RFIs, change orders, construction site visits and managing surveying consultant.
This internship is expected to start on or around June 1st for up to 3 months.
Working hours will be Monday-Friday, between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Expected to work up to 32 hours a week. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college, university or enrolled in an accredited graduate school, or technical degree program. Coursework and interest in Engineering, construction management and related fields is preferred.
Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office software applications. The ability to collect, compile and analyze data and communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing are essential. The ideal candidate will be able to take direction, move a project forward with moderate supervision, be able to multi-task, be open to taking on a variety of different types of work, be detail oriented and enjoy being part of a team. All individuals offered an internship must provide acceptable proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States. Proof will be required prior to starting.

The successful intern must possess (or obtain within 30 days of employment) a valid driver's license to complete the essential functions of the role. Intern must be able to successfully complete a background investigation which may include driving record review.
