What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Technician position at Port Networks?

Qualifications
- At least a high-school degreee and 3 years or more experience installeing satellite TV dishes, Cat5/6 cabling, and/or fiber
- Skills in conduit/wirepath installation; Cat5e/Cat6 and fiber termination; network equipment installation and configuration; and low-voltage power connections
- Clean driving and safety record, personal and professional references
- Ability to work independently and arrive at scheduled appointments on time
- BICSI, A or ITS certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Report to work on time, professionally dressed and ready for assignment to a project
- Follow instructions from lead tech to complete installation of radios, antennas, and fiber distribution systems (depending on the project)
- Run Cat5/6 and fiber optic cable through conduit/wirepath, terminate cabling
- Verify work by testing circuits and equipment, addressing or escalating problems found
- Document work by labeling cabling and equipment, and recording configurations
- Build customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns, and answering questions.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations, and by keeping work areas clean and organized.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Stand; walk; sit; bend; stoop; kneel; climb; pull; push; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- Climb ladders and work at heights over 35 feet, climb up to 60 steps while carrying equipment
- Lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can become heavy or high depending on the equipment being used at the particular work site.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
