General Position Summary:
Responsible for assisting chef(s) and cooks in preparation of salad, main dishes, snack trays and other foods.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Good personal communications skills
- Ensures temperatures of all foods, salads and soups are properly maintained.
- Keeps clean, sanitary and organized work areas and kitchen equipment.
- Excellent customer relations skills.
Secondary Functions:
- Assists other employees when needed.
- Other tasks deemed necessary by supervisor.
- Completes cash transactions when cook or cashier are not available.
Specific Job Skills:
- Good verbal and written skills
- Ability to handle difficult and/or stressful situations.
- Ability to follow instructions,
- Knowledge of health standards and proper cooking and food storage temperatures
- Able to solve problems quickly
- Knowledge in use of kitchen equipment
- Desire to learn new tasks and assume new tasks.
Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or GED preferred.
Job Conditions:
Working conditions include working with and around kitchen equipment sometimes under crowded, sometimes stressful, conditions, frequent interruptions.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Able to lift 40 lbs.
