F&B- Banquet Captain
General Position Summary:
Directs and ensures proper execution of all scheduled banquets and meeting events. Oversees banquet functions ensuring the utmost in efficiency and service.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Ensures smooth, efficient, professional operation of banquet functions by reviewing all room sets prior to each event
- Coordinates staffing and inventory levels with Banquet Supervisor in an effort to provide excellent customer service
- Communicates frequently with the function’s meeting planner to ensure all instructions are executed correctly
- Works closely with kitchen to ensure food quality control and presentation standards
- Promotes positive customer relations, handles complaints and suggestions
- Ensures communication with Marketing/Catering to promote banquet sales/profitability
- Coordinates the function set-up and break-down to include proper placement of furniture in meeting rooms
- Ensures servers utilize proper placement and removal of entrée/dessert plates, etc.
Secondary Functions:
- Reviews all banquet menus and Banquet Event Orders (BEO) F&B Director
- Assists in the completion of the post-event recap
- Assists in the training of banquet wait staff
- Other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or GED required. Prior experience in Banquet Services is required. Must be at least 21 years of age. Strong computer and POS skills.
Job Conditions:
Working conditions include working in an office setting with a computer and other equipment. Other conditions include working with the kitchen staff and in the banquet facility. Remains flexible and is able to prioritize multiple tasks on a regular basis. Conditions also include frequent interruptions, working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 lbs. while standing, twisting, or bending on a regular or extended period of time. Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment. Manual and finger dexterity for operation of personal computers, adding machine and routine paperwork.
