Position Summary
Oversees all warehouse activities and procurement of items and services, including shipping and receiving materials, parts, and supplies as well as monitoring inventory levels using a computerized inventory system. Responsible for employees including providing hands-on management and monitoring compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
- Work under the leadership of the Director Maintenance Inventory and Planning and work closely with and support Maintenance Managers from other Port Houston facilities as required.
- May be asked to assume the responsibilities of the Director Maintenance Inventory and Planning in their absence; may also be called upon to support other facilities as necessary
- Plan, organize, and control warehouse operations; develop a master parts list in inventory computer system for all major and critical items in inventory; lead and manage warehouse staff in a safe, efficient, and economical manner
- Oversee hiring process of warehouse staff, train incoming workforce on warehouse related duties and software systems
- Support long-range planning projects for future development with the Director Maintenance Inventory and Planning
- Track spending related to operational and capital budgets periodically to Director Maintenance Inventory and Planning
- Support Managers through account balance monitoring of annual purchase orders and renew accounts as balances and time near expiration
- Initiate purchase order creations and renewals through Commission level as needed
- Ensure all items are received and stored properly and safely; retrieve and deliver parts and supplies in a timely fashion; properly and timely record transactions into inventory computer system; implement a bar coding/scanning system that accurately updates receiving/issuing transactions in inventory computer system
- Responsible for managing and maintaining the standard operating procedures for check out parts and special tools to maintenance personnel as needed; charge parts to work orders in inventory computer system accordingly
- Coordinate shipment and deliveries with various carriers; coordinate and manage any return shipments
- Receive deliveries and notify appropriate personnel
- Manage fuel and lubricant inventory daily; monitor levels in storage tanks and arrange deliveries and pick-ups as required
- Act in accordance with Port Houston core values (respect, excellence, accountability, diligence, and you)
- Perform other duties as required
- High School diploma or equivalency required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related major from a public or accredited private academic institution preferred.
- Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- 5-7 years of related maintenance experience required.
- Previous supervisory experience required
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of inventory controls
- Knowledge of automated inventory system

- Ability to make calculations such as freight estimates, dimensional weight, invoices and percentages

- Ability to manage and supervise other maintenance employees when they are accomplishing related warehouse activities
- Ability to operate M5/Maximo or CMMS system available. A current, valid Texas driver's license is required
- A Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) must be obtained within 30 days of appointment, and be maintained for the duration of employment
