Job Summary
We are looking for Dispatcher for Night shift and weekends. Seeking a highly organized and compassionate Ambulance Dispatcher to coordinate emergency medical responses efficiently. The ideal candidate will serve as the critical link between callers, medical personnel, and ambulance services. This role requires excellent communication skills, quick decision-making abilities, and familiarity with emergency dispatch protocols to ensure timely and effective response to emergencies.
Duties
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy, providing empathetic support to callers in distress
- Perform phone triage to assess the nature of emergencies and prioritize responses accordingly
- Utilize GIS and GPS technology to determine the precise location of incidents and dispatch the nearest available ambulance units
- Enter data accurately into dispatch systems, including incident details, caller information, and resource allocation
- Maintain clear and continuous communication with ambulance crews during emergencies to provide updates and support
- Use medical terminology effectively to understand caller descriptions of symptoms or incidents
- Manage conflict situations with calmness and professionalism, ensuring safety for all parties involved
- Document all communications thoroughly for record-keeping and legal purposes
- Follow security protocols to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with privacy regulations
Experience
- Prior experience in EMT services or emergency medical dispatching is highly desirable
- Knowledge of GIS, GPS, and multi-line phone systems is preferred
- Strong communication skills, including phone etiquette and active listening abilities, are essential
- Ability to perform typing quickly and accurately under pressure is required
- Previous experience working in high-stress environments such as law enforcement or emergency response centers is a plus
