What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse position at Porfirio H. Gonzales Elementary School?
POSITION INFORMATION:
- Conduct school nurse duties including administer medications, assess student needs, maintain student records;
- Experience working with children;
- Give leadership and guidance in the development and maintenance of a total school health program;
- Deliverer of health services, an advocate for the health rights of children, counselor for health concerns of children, families, and staff, and educator for school/community health concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a current license to practice as a professional registered nurse (RN) in AZ;
- Two years of successful clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse;
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification,
- BS in Nursing (preferred).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet the special medical/nursing needs of students;
- Health Appraisal: Assess and evaluate the health and development status of students;
- Health Counseling: Counseling with school personnel to plan action so as not to interfere with student's effective learning;
- Care of sick & Injured: Assumes the responsibility in caring for the sick and injured in the school in accordance with school policy and the accepted standar of practices for nurses;
- Oversees school nurse's assistants at other school locations;
- Performs such related duties as determined necessary by the Administrator of Special Programs.
