Pay Rate

$30.00 - $34.00 per hour (non-exempt)

The Role

PORAC is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Multimedia Production Assistant to support the organization’s growing social and digital communications program. This role will allow you to capture, edit and create high-production-value video and photo content that reaches tens of thousands of law enforcement professionals and decision-makers across California and beyond. What you post, edit, and produce matters here. Our digital content helps shape how officers stay informed, how policies are understood, and how real stories get told.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter and strong storyteller with solid technical skills, good judgment, and an understanding of how digital content shapes public perception. You might not have decades of experience – but you do know how content moves online, how video grabs attention, and how storytelling builds trust. You’re serious about production quality. You know how to shoot clean video, capture usable audio, and edit content that looks polished and intentional. You’re comfortable with gear, software, and AI-powered tools, and you enjoy staying ahead of new digital content trends.

Core Responsibilities

Video & Photo Production

  • Capture high-quality video and photo content at events, interviews, town halls, conferences, and on-location shoots
  • Set up and operate cameras, lighting, and audio to ensure professional-grade footage
  • Frame shots, manage exposure and sound, and troubleshoot technical issues in real time

Editing & Post-Production

  • Edit short- and mid-form video content with high production value for social, web, and email platforms
  • Color correct, mix audio, add motion graphics, captions, and branding elements
  • Deliver polished content on tight timelines while maintaining quality standards
  • Utilize AI tools to improve speed, consistency, and quality (e.g., transcription, captioning, rough cuts, animations, content resizing)

Content Strategy & Collaboration

  • Work closely with communications, advocacy, and leadership teams to translate complex topics into compelling visual content
  • Support digital campaigns tied to advocacy and member engagement
  • Provide creative input on formats, visual styles, and production approaches
  • Ideate with the team on ways to improve and expand the reach and engagement of PORAC’s social channels

Asset Management & Workflow

  • Organize and maintain video, photo, and project files for efficient reuse
  • Track deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously

What You Bring

  • 1–3 years of professional, hands-on video and photo production experience
  • Strong shooting skills with DSLR/mirrorless cameras and basic lighting/audio setups
  • Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro)
  • Working knowledge of photo editing tools (Photoshop, Lightroom or equivalent)
  • Experience using AI-powered tools for editing, animating, transcription, captioning, or workflow optimization
  • Strong attention to detail and an eye for production quality
  • Familiarity with social-first video formats (vertical, short-form, captions-on)
  • Comfort working under deadlines
