We are seeking a highly experienced, friendly, motivated, detail oriented and hard
working candidate for a Full Time Ophthalmic Technician to assist our client's ophthalmologists (M.D.'s) with exams and procedures.
Duties will include:
Pretesting, HVF, OCT, IOL, photos, scans, refraction, documenting past medical history and medications accurately in EMR dilation, injections, cross linking assistance, other duties as requested by the doctor or tech supervisor.
Qualifications:
• Excellent customer service background.
• Efficient and accurate at interviewing patients and documenting histories
and visual acuity.
• Proficient data entry skills.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease and ocular
medications.
• Experienced with HVF, Lensometry, Keratometry, Tonometry, Visual Fields,
Amslers, Muscle Fields, Pupil Exams, and Refracting. (Will train the right
person in lieu of experience)
• Skilled at problem solving.
• Proficient at working with a computer.
• Skilled in communication, both written and verbal.
• Able to self-direct.
• Highly motivated and able to multi-task.
• Able to work under pressure in a high-paced environment.
• Experience in the field and scribe experience is a plus.
• COA certification preferred, but not required.
• Reliable, dependable and punctual.
• Outgoing and friendly.
• Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time.
• Some travel to our other locations may be required at times
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Prepare patients for ophthalmology examination by performing the patient
work-up, administering ophthalmic testing, dilating their pupils; record
patient history summary including change in visual acuity and elevated
intraocular pressure and provide patient education and services as needed.
• Counsel patients regarding use of ophthalmic drops and other medications,
and answers questions about treatment/services.
• Assist Doctors for eye procedures done in the office.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and
following standards of care for procedures; complying with regulations.
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, employee is required to
stand and walk frequently; sit frequently; use hands to handle, or feel objects,
tools, or controls frequently; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear and
communicate with speech clarity continually; climb, balance, and stoop, kneel, and
bend occasionally. Employee must lift and/or move 50 pounds occasionally and
assist with patient transfers.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distant vision, color
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception.
Work environment: Setting typical of an ophthalmology medical practice with
office type features. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be
exposed to bio-hazard risks.
