Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education
- Prior experience in a minimum of one of the following areas: coaching, athletic administration, or educational leadership
- Master's degree in School Administration is preferred
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as necessary
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of state and national athletic regulations
- Budgeting and financial management experiences
- Hold or actively pursue a class B school bus license with P and S endorsements
Scheduling and Coordinating
- Collaborates and coordinates with the Athletic Director concerning the scheduling of all athletic games and activities.
- Coordinates with the administrative assistant to ensure all athletic activities are on the MSHSAA schedule.
- Enters, approves, and oversees all athletic trip transportation requests for both HS & JH Athletics and activities.
- Assists the AD with coordinating meals/lodging for athletic teams' overnight trips.
- Assists the AD with arranging & confirming officials/umpires for home events.
- Assists the AD and head coaches in coordinating practice locations for athletics.
- Coordinates and assists visiting teams with needed services.
- Coordinate with the Athletic Trainer, EMT, and other associated service providers as needed.
- Assists the AD with serving as the primary liaison between the athletic department and school administration, parents, Booster Club, and the community.
- Assists the AD with communicating schedules, policies, and updates to stakeholders.
- Promotes athletic achievements through school media, newsletters, and social media.
- Promotes a positive image of the Poplar Bluff R-I District.
- Assists the AD in providing local media (TV/Radio/DAR) with information regarding athletic events.
- Assists the AD with informing all coaches of MSHSAA and SEMO Conference changes in rules and eligibility.
- Assists the AD in posting information regarding athletic events through district-approved communication platforms.
- Assists the AD in working with the building administrator regarding schedule changes/adjustments for reschedules or cancellations.
- Proficient use of the District's digital platforms.
- Intentional and frequent collaboration and communication with the Athletic Director and building administrators about all aspects of the athletic program.
- Assists the AD with coordinating and conducting the Poplar Bluff Basketball Showdown Tournament.
- Assist the AD with recruiting community support and partnerships for the annual ShowDown Tournament.
- Assists with the athletic ticket program and passes.
- Assists the AD with collaborating with the Booster Clubs to determine the needs of programs.
- Assists the AD with meetings with coaches, parents, students, or community members about concerns as needed.
- Intentional in building and maintaining positive relationships with all students, families, and other stakeholders.
- Assists the AD in scheduling special events/activities to encourage community business partnerships (Academy Rivalry, Academy Athlete of the Month, Pink Out PBRMC, etc).
- Assists the AD with planning and coordinating with local medical partners to provide free physicals for PB athletes.
- Assists the AD with the maintenance of eligibility lists, student athletic physicals, records of contests, and reports of accidents.
- Remains current on all rules and eligibility changes within MSHSAA and the SEMO Conference.
- Assists the AD with coordinating all annual staff-required training of coaches.
- Assists the AD with MSHSAA-reported violations.
- Assist the AD and building administrators with supervising the activities of all athletic personnel and events.
- Supervises all Junior High Football and Boys Basketball home and away games or other supervision duties assigned.
- Assists the AD in ensuring all athletic staff and volunteers have completed all required onboarding and training requirements.
- Promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership among student-athletes.
- Fosters a supportive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Assists the AD and district coaches with educating athletes about the college recruitment process, helping them identify potential schools, and facilitating connections with college coaches.
- Assist the AD with maintaining compliance and safety standards per state, federal, and insurance company regulations.
- Assists the AD in accounting for monies managed through the athletic program, including purchases for individual sport programs, travel, and payments to officials for services.
- Assists the AD in securing sponsorships for the athletic program.
- Provides input on the maintenance of current facilities and planning of new athletic facilities.
- Assists the AD in evaluating the HS and JH facilities, equipment, and supplies, including inspection for safety hazards and cleanliness.
- Assists the AD in reporting maintenance needs of school facilities to the Maintenance Department.
- Coordinates and processes all athletic-related facility requests at the JH with assistance from the JH Assistant Principal.
- Assists the AD with athletic-related facility requests at the HS with assistance from the HS Assistant Principal.
- Assists the AD with ordering athletic awards/banners and coordinates with the principal about building placement.
- Assists with AD in recruiting current staff and community members to apply for open coaching positions.
- Reviews all applications and participates in all head coach and assistant coach interview panels.
- Provides insight and assists the AD with all annual Head Coach evaluations.
- Provides insight and assists the AD with the evaluation and development of all athletic programs.
- Coordinates all monthly JH coaching meetings and attends monthly HS meetings.
- Assists the AD in disseminating to all coaches any rule and eligibility changes within MSHSAA and the SEMO Conference.
- Assists the AD with coordinating annual MSHSAA & NFHS required training for all coaches.
- Adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the Poplar Bluff Board of Education.
- Attends appropriate committee, staff, and collaboration meetings.
- Performs any other tasks assigned by the Athletic Director, the Superintendent, or designee.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for long periods.
- Ability to see and read, with or without vision aids, a computer screen and printed matter, and to distinguish colors.
- Sufficient hearing to understand speech at normal room levels, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone.
- Manual dexterity to operate a telephone and enter data into a computer using both hands.
