The General Manager is responsible for the overall success of the restaurant, including guest satisfaction, team leadership, food quality, cleanliness, sales growth, cost control, staffing, training, safety, and compliance. Key ResponsibilitiesRestaurant Leadership
- Lead, coach, and motivate Assistant Managers, Shift Leaders, and Crew Members.
- Create a positive restaurant culture based on respect, accountability, teamwork, and excellent guest service.
- Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable to company standards, policies, and procedures.
- Develop Assistant Managers and Shift Leaders for future leadership opportunities.
- Communicate goals, priorities, and performance expectations clearly to the team.

- Lead by example during busy shifts and support the team wherever needed.
Guest Service
- Ensure every guest receives friendly, fast, accurate, and high-quality service.
- Maintain high standards for hospitality, speed of service, order accuracy, and guest satisfaction.
- Respond quickly and professionally to guest concerns or complaints.
- Take appropriate action to resolve issues and turn dissatisfied guests into returning guests.
- Monitor guest feedback and use it to improve restaurant performance.

Daily Restaurant Operations
- Oversee all daily restaurant operations, including opening, shift change, and closing procedures.
- Ensure restaurant standards are met for food quality, service, cleanliness, safety, and speed.
- Manage restaurant performance during peak business hours, including lunch, dinner, weekends, and holidays.
- Ensure all positions are properly staffed and team members are deployed effectively.
- Monitor product quality, order accuracy, ticket times, and overall shift execution.
- Ensure equipment, facilities, and supplies are maintained and functioning properly.
- Complete required reports, checklists, logs, and administrative tasks accurately and on time.
- Take prompt action to correct operational issues and improve restaurant results.
Staffing, Training, and Team Development
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, and retain qualified restaurant employees.
- Ensure all team members complete required training programs.
- Prepare and manage schedules based on restaurant needs, sales trends, and labor goals.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management.
- Address employee concerns professionally and in accordance with company policy.
- Support a culture of recognition, accountability, and growth.
- Develop Crew Members into Shift Leaders and Shift Leaders into Assistant Managers.
- Build a strong leadership team capable of running successful shifts.
Food Safety, Cleanliness, and Quality
- Maintain a safe, clean, secure, and healthy restaurant environment for guests and employees.
- Follow and enforce all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
- Ensure consistent food preparation, presentation, portion control, and product quality.
- Uphold company standards for restaurant cleanliness, uniforms, appearance, and overall image.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, handling, preparation, and rotation of food products.
- Complete food safety checks, cleaning schedules, and quality control procedures.
- Maintain ServSafe standards and ensure food safety guidelines are followed.
- Complete required food quality and operational assessments.
Financial Performance and Cost Control
- Drive sales by maintaining strong operations, excellent service, quality food, and a clean restaurant.
- Manage restaurant profitability through effective cost control and operational execution.
- Monitor and control labor costs, food costs, waste, cash handling, and other controllable expenses.
- Review sales trends, labor needs, inventory usage, and restaurant performance.
- Maintain accurate payroll, cash handling, deposits, and financial reporting.
- Complete financial and administrative duties accurately, on time, and in accordance with company procedures.
- Support loss prevention efforts and ensure all cash, inventory, and security procedures are followed.
- Take ownership of restaurant goals and work with the team to achieve them.
Inventory and Ordering
- Manage food, paper, cleaning supplies, and restaurant inventory.
- Place orders with approved vendors and distributors based on restaurant needs.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and control product usage.
- Check deliveries for accuracy and ensure products are stored properly.
- Monitor waste, portioning, and preparation levels to control food costs.
- Ensure the restaurant has the supplies needed to operate successfully without over-ordering.
- Maintain proper stock levels for daily operations and high-volume periods.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Follow company policies, franchise standards, and restaurant procedures.
- Maintain a safe working environment for employees and guests.
- Complete accident, incident, and safety reports promptly and accurately.
- Enforce proper cash handling, security, food safety, and loss prevention procedures.
- Ensure required licenses, permits, postings, and certifications are maintained as applicable.
- Keep ownership or leadership promptly informed of significant issues, concerns, or opportunities.
- Take corrective action when standards are not being met.
QualificationsRequired
- Previous restaurant management experience required.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced quick-service restaurant environment.
- Strong focus on guest service, food quality, cleanliness, and team development.
- Understanding of restaurant operations, labor control, food cost, inventory, scheduling, and cash handling.
- Ability to work varying shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a busy restaurant environment.
- Must meet age requirements for the position based on state and local laws.
- ServSafe Certification preferred, or ability to obtain certification within company-required timeframe.
Preferred
- 2 or more years of restaurant General Manager experience.
- Quick-service restaurant or fast-casual management experience.
- Experience managing Assistant Managers, Shift Leaders, and Crew Members.
- Experience with hiring, training, scheduling, inventory, labor cost, food cost, and P&L management.
- Experience driving sales, improving guest satisfaction, and controlling costs.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to [insert weight, such as 25–50 lbs.] as needed.
- Ability to work around hot equipment, cleaning products, food preparation areas, and drive-thru operations.
