ROLE OVERVIEW:

• We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join a growing, well-established commercial general contractor in Austin, Texas.
• This is an opportunity for a motivated construction professional who thrives on independence, takes ownership of their work, and knows how to develop accurate, competitive estimates that win profitable projects.
• The company delivers a diverse portfolio of commercial construction projects, including ground-up construction, tenant improvements, renovations, hospitality, retail, healthcare, and other specialized commercial spaces throughout the Austin area.
• Candidate will join a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment that values initiative, accountability, strong relationships, and results over job titles.

What You'll Do:

• Own the estimating process: Independently manage multiple commercial construction bids from initial review through final proposal submission.
• Develop accurate estimates: Prepare budgets and competitive bids for ground-up construction, tenant improvements, and renovations.
• Review project scope: Analyze drawings, specifications, and subcontractor proposals to identify gaps, exclusions, and cost risks.
• Build subcontractor relationships: Secure competitive pricing, follow up on bids, and negotiate scope and costs.
• Collaborate with the team: Work with preconstruction, operations, and business development to support successful project delivery.
• Improve estimating processes: Use technology and AI-assisted tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications: 

• Proven commercial construction estimating experience, including ground-up commercial projects.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, building systems, and trade scopes.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple concurrent estimates and meet demanding deadlines.
• Experience developing conceptual budgets and competitive subcontractor-based estimates.
• Strong subcontractor solicitation, relationship-building, scope review, and bid-leveling skills.
• Ability to identify scope gaps, pricing risks, and design deficiencies and develop appropriate bid qualifications.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with BuildingConnected and Bluebeam.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and personal accountability.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and company leadership.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and communicate issues before they become problems.
• Willingness to adopt new technologies, including AI-assisted estimating tools.
