What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pool Technician position at Pooljoy Pool Care?
ABOUT THE ROLE
PoolJoy is a growing residential pool service company based in Austin. We currently service 50 pools weekly and are expanding fast. We're looking for a reliable, experienced pool tech to join our team part-time, with a clear path to full-time as your route grows.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Service a consistent weekly route of residential pools in the Austin area (West Lake Hills, Bee Cave, Lakeway, Cedar Park, Southwest Austin)
- Test and balance water chemistry using LSI (Langelier Saturation Index) methodology
- Brush, vacuum, skim, and clean pool surfaces and equipment
- Document service visits and communicate any repairs needed (bonus points if you have repair experience!)
- Follow PoolJoy's established service system and standards
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Prior pool service experience preferred (1-3 years)
- If you have no experience but are curious to learn, please reach out
- Reliable, punctual, and self-directed -- you'll be running your route independently
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Comfortable working outdoors in Austin summers
- Open to learning and following our specific system -- we do things a particular way and it works
PAY AND SCHEDULE
- $18 per pool serviced weekly / $35 for larger or more complex pools
- Starting route of approximately 15–25 pools per week, growing as we expand
- Weekly pay $350 - $1000
- 2 full weeks of paid training (ride-along with our lead technician) at $17.00 per hour before you take over an assigned route
- Guaranteed weekly base introduced as your route grows -- typically around 55 pools per week
- Company truck and equipment provided
- You'll be taking over routes on a specific day (e.g. "The Thursday route in West Lake Hills")
GROWTH OPPORTUNITY
This role starts part-time but is designed to grow into full-time as we expand our route. We're actively adding new accounts and expect to reach full-time volume within a few months. You'll learn new skills from a CPO-certified lead technician who will train you for the first 1–2 weeks. After that, you'll hit the road in your own company truck to begin cleaning pools in some of Austin's most desirable neighborhoods, building great relationships with our friendly customers along the way.
