TITLE: Instructional Assistant - ESOL
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree, evidence of 60 credits or evidence of passing score on Parapro exam required.
- Proficiency in both Spanish and English preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff in both oral and written form.
- Demonstrate ability to assist in providing instructional support to Multilingual Learner students receiving services in the ESOL program.
- such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: School Manager, Principal, or Assistant Principal
JOB GOAL: To assist Multilingual Learner students in learning English and improving their proficiency in applying English language skills in academic and related arts curriculum areas, as directed by the ESOL teacher and/or ESOL supervisor or school principal.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support Multilingual Learners’ access to instructional programming at the secondary level by providing supplemental English acquisition and academic services as determined by the ESOL teacher
- Provide individual and/or small group supplementary instruction to Multilingual Learners based on individualized instructional plans created by the ESOL and content teachers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Non-exempt position. Ten month work year.
Salary to be established by the Board.
