Implementation and Support Technician (Full-Time, Salaried)
Pontchartrain Systems — Jefferson / New Orleans, Louisiana
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Maybe M-F 8AM-4PM
Travel: Occasional local service calls (typically within 30 minutes of the office; mileage reimbursed)
Compensation: Competitive and based on experience

Pontchartrain Systems is a small, established technology company founded in 2001, specializing in point-of-sale (POS) and credit card processing implementation, sales, integration, and support.

Position Overview
We’re seeking a Implementation and Support Technician to provide first-level technical and customer support. You’ll assist customers by phone, email, chat, and text, document issues, and perform basic troubleshooting.
No advanced certifications are required—just solid computer-use skills, good communication, and a willingness to learn. Full training on our systems and processes will be provided. Every day can be something different.
Responsibilities
- Handle incoming support requests via phone, ticketing system, chat, text, and email
- Document issues clearly and follow up through resolution
- Perform basic troubleshooting on Windows and Android systems (file management, network pathing, basic connectivity checks)
- Learn our POS and payment platforms through structured, on-the-job training
- Accompany senior staff on local service calls (30-minute radius); mileage reimbursed at slightly above IRS rate
- Maintain professional, courteous communication with customers and coworkers
Requirements
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
- Basic customer-service skills (professional phone etiquette, patience, follow-through)
- Basic Windows and Android understanding: file operations, drive mapping, naming conventions, simple network concepts
- Comfortable managing multiple customer channels using ticketing software
Preferred Experience (a Plus, Not Required)
- Familiarity with basic networking concepts (IP addressing, routers, Wi-Fi, cabling)
- Background in the hospitality or restaurant industry
- Experience with Aloha POS, SpotOn POS, or other restaurant point-of-sale systems
- General understanding of POS hardware (receipt printers, cash drawers, payment terminals, etc.)
- Prior work in customer-facing technical support or help desk environments
Additional Details
- Company laptop provided
- No on-call or after-hours expectations
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs (POS terminals, small computers, etc.)
- A brief basic-skills test may be given during the interview process
- Background check not required, but a simple public-record check will be performed.
