Speech Pathologist

 

Salary:  $55,000 15% Benefits

 

 

Reports to:                   Building Principal, Director of Special Services

 

Supervises:                  Assigned Speech Language Pathologist Assistants

 

Qualifications:            Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate – Speech Pathologist

                                      

Job Goal:                      The Speech Language Pathologist will implement instructional strategies to general and special education students with language handicaps, articulation deficits, dysfluencies and voice disorders to support academic success.

 

Employment Terms: 10 month Contract

Generally - 7 Hour 20 Minute Day, Exclusive of a (30) Minute Duty Free Lunch

 

FLSA Classification:  Exempt

Evaluation:                  Annually by Site Principal

Regular Requirements:  Stand for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 100 pounds; handle objects and tools with hands and operate equipment; repetitive use of fingers and hands to operate equipment

 

Occasional Requirements:  Ability to administer CPR and First Aid

 

Visual Requirements:  Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

 

Hearing/Speaking Requirements:  Adequate to exchange information

 

 

 

 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement.
  2. Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
  3. Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, and language impairments.
  4. Provides screening to identify children with speech or language disabilities at regular intervals and at specified levels.
  5. Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community.
  6. Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students' needs and correct existing speech or language handicaps.
  7. Collects data on progress toward IEP goals.
  8. Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the student's daily activities.
  9. Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
  10. Meets district and site staff development requirements.
  11. Conducts annual re-evaluation to determine need for continued services and files written reports.
  12. Completes all required special education paperwork in a timely manner to meet compliance deadlines.
  13. Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.

 

Salary : $55,000
