Chemist I Job Summary:
The Chemist I will be responsible for carrying out quality control analyses of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods, as well as performing other activities inherent to the laboratory operation. This position will be on site at Pompeian HQ at 4201 Pulaski Highway Baltimore, MD. reporting to the Laboratory Manager.
Chemist I Job Requirements:
- B.S. in Chemistry or related science field
- 1-3 years of work experience in a QC laboratory
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative, critical thinking, teamwork and analytical skills
- Attention to detail & willingness to learn
Chemist 1 Pay & Perks:
- Starting wage: $30.43/hour with opportunities for advancement
- Hours: 12-8:30pm. split shift with every third weekend

Chemist I Responsibilities:
- Follow all published employee safety, environmental, and food safety rules
- Ensure compliance with laboratory health and safety guidelines
- Operate chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry techniques
- Prepare test solutions and reagents for laboratory activities
- Manage and register all samples and stock room inventory
- Determine chemical and physical properties and conduct testing in compliance with GMPs and SOPs
- Register, analyze, and report test results
- Maintain lab equipment and materials and troubleshoot or report on malfunctions
- Perform routine equipment metrological verification according to the control plan
- Use instrumentation software, (e.g. ERP software, LIMS, and Microsoft Office)
- Keep the laboratory Safety Data Sheets updated according to defined instructions
- Verify all paperwork related to incoming raw material
- Receive purchase orders for laboratory materials
- Perform other tasks as required by management
- Collaborate and work as needed with other departments
- Maintain a clean and orderly workplace
