What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant/Technician position at Pompano Veterinary Oncology?
Veterinary Tech. Assistant FULL TIME/PARTTIME position available for an Oncology mobile service in south florida. Applicants must have a friendly and helpful attitude toward clients, patients, and staff is a must. We offer an excellent work environment. Hourly salary will be based on experience. Must be 18 years of age or older. Tasks you will be asked to perform: * Provide compassionate care for pets * Restrain pets for veterinarians and technicians * Assist in the taking of x-rays * Assist in the exam room * Collect and update client information, including medical history * Clean cages, runs, and hospital facilities. * Do laundry throughout the day, and maintain the hospital in a neat and sanitary condition including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, taking out the trash * Provide clean bedding, water, and litter pans for pets * Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with various procedures and treatments * Take incoming pets to appropriate areas and retrieve pets that are being discharged Requirements: * Knowledge of basic animal care and handling techniques * Must be flexible with schedule * Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is preferred * Must be able to work on your feet for long periods of time * Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and walk dogs up 120lbs
* Familiarity with veterinary terminology and procedures
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written *Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
* Proficiency in computer systems and software used in veterinary clinics
* Ability to work well as part of a team and provide exceptional customer service to clients
