Starting Rate: $25/hour
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the CES Manager, the Employment Specialist is responsible for assisting in providing services for individuals with disabilities with a focus on working towards and reaching their employment goals. Primarily, the CES Program works with individuals who have been referred by the California Department of Rehabilitation, those with an active authorization for Habilitation through the Regional Center. In addition, the CES Program Staff may work with participants that are currently enrolled in a pre-employment program at PRRC; including the Children and Youth Services: Transition Age Youth Student Work Group and the Adult Day OneCenter Work Academy. Working with 1:1 or with a small group, the Employment Specialist is responsible for conducting assessments, vocational training and education, skill development activities, job development, placement, and continued job coaching services as determined.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct and support with the assessment of social, behavioral, and physical skill levels for individual clients and the identification of necessary areas of growth for the individual’s employment goals.
- Conduct and assist with the support clients through training and education by observing client’s work performance through on-site or off-site training periods.
- Coordinate and assist with the development jobs for and with clients.
- Support clients with finding a job placement by resume building, job searches, completing applications, and conducting interview practices
- Providing support at clients’ work location as needed and determined by their IPE, ISP, and/or IHSP.
- Daily/weekly/monthly completion of scheduling, facilitating, documenting, and adapting employment services provided individually and in small groups.
- Identify and collaboratively work with other team members to use of Center and community resources to enhance individual growth.
- Responsible for the safety of individuals served by observing and meeting safety requirements at the Center, in the community, and at individual worksite(s).
- Responsible for planning, facilitating, and evaluating social, vocational, self-help/advocacy, developmental activities, and skills training; both on a 1:1 basis as well as in small groups through on site and community-based activities in accordance with ISPs.
- Assist individuals with eating, toileting, personal hygiene, dressing, and other daily living skills as needed.
- Provide physical assistance to persons served that have a wheelchair or other mobility device, including transferring, pushing, loading, and unloading from vehicles, and physical guidance as needed.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
- One or more years related experience and/or training providing services working with individuals with disabilities or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation counseling, vocational rehabilitation, related field; or AA Degree with 2 years of experience
- Eager to learn and willing to be trained
- Computer skills including MS Office, Google Suite, Email, etc.
- Working effectively with a variety of personalities and a sensitivity to the needs/communication of persons with differing abilities
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, as well as to accept direction on given assignments, and work as part of a team
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and projects with varying time sensitive deadlines
- Criminal Record Clearance required
- Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and Pro-Act

- Valid California driver’s license with clear DMV report required
