What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commodity Manager position at POLYWOOD®?
Commodity Manager – Plastics / Resins
Northern Indiana | On-site Preferred, Open to Hybrid
Great products don’t start on the production floor. They start with the right materials, at the right time, from the right partners.
At POLYWOOD, we believe the strength of our products begins long before they’re built. It starts with thoughtful sourcing, strong supplier relationships, and people who understand how materials, cost, and performance all come together.
We’re looking for a Commodity Manager to help lead that effort across our plastics and resin categories.
The Work You’ll Love Doing
In this role, you’ll be at the center of how we source and manage the materials that go into every product we build. You’ll work closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure we have the right materials in place to support production, quality, and innovation.
This is a hands-on, collaborative role where your decisions help keep operations running smoothly while also shaping how we think about cost, supply, and long-term partnerships.
Where You Will Make an Impact
• Managing sourcing activities across resins, colorants, and plastic-related materials
• Building strong, collaborative relationships with supplier partners
• Supporting pricing, contract discussions, and cost improvement initiatives
• Partnering with operations to support just-in-time delivery and inventory flow
• Monitoring market trends and helping guide sourcing decisions
• Assisting with new material sourcing tied to product and process improvements
• Ensuring materials meet performance, quality, and production requirements
What You Bring
You have experience working with plastic materials and suppliers, and you understand how sourcing decisions impact both cost and production. You’ve been involved in pricing, supplier coordination, or negotiations, and you’re ready to take on more ownership in those areas.
You’re collaborative, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across teams. You communicate clearly, build trust easily, and take pride in helping things run efficiently.
• 3–8 years of experience in plastics, resins, or chemical procurement
• Experience working with resin suppliers, colorants, or related materials
• Exposure to cost analysis, pricing, or supplier negotiations
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
What Makes This Role Special
• Your work matters. The materials you source directly impact product quality and performance
• You’ll grow. This role offers the opportunity to expand your ownership and influence over time
• You’re supported. You’ll work alongside teams that value collaboration and practical problem solving
• You’ll see the impact. Your decisions show up in real time on the production floor
