Overview: 

Polytechnic School is excited to announce the opening for a Junior Varsity Softball Coach. As we split our varsity team into two, we are looking for a dedicated individual to lead our JV team. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape young athletes, fostering both their skills and love of the game in a supportive, competitive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Practice Management:
  • Design and conduct effective practice sessions that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies.
  • Implement drills that enhance players’ technical skills and understanding of the game.
• Game Preparation:
  • Develop game strategies and prepare the team for competitions.
  • Analyze opponents to adjust strategies for upcoming games.
• Player Development:
  • Mentor and support players in their individual growth, both on and off the field.
  • Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude among players.
• Communication:
  • Maintain open lines of communication with players, parents, and the varsity coaching staff.
  • Provide regular feedback on player performance and development.
• Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the varsity coaching staff to align training programs and player development initiatives.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of the softball program.
• Administrative Duties:
  • Assist with the organization of team logistics, including scheduling practices and games.
  • Ensure compliance with all school and league regulations.
  • Engage robustly in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion to promote a healthy learning environment.
  • Willingness to take on other duties as needed.

• Previous coaching experience, preferably in softball at the high school or youth level.
• Strong knowledge of softball techniques, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate young athletes.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience creating inclusive learning environments and opportunities 

 Physical requirements and work environment

• Work in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines, as well as a diverse array of contacts;
• Work at a desk and computer;
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds;
• Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment;
• Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
