What are the responsibilities and job description for the Photography Manager position at Polynesian Adventure Tours Inc?
Primary Responsibilities
Photography & Editing Quality:
- Evaluate overall photo quality and ensure consistency in every photo.
- Use Lightroom to upload, edit, and standardize images (lighting, clarity, corrections, etc.).
- Edit photos with closed eyes or other flaws to provide guests with two high-quality options.
- Ensure a skilled photographer is consistently capturing guest photos.
Equipment Setup & Maintenance:
- Set up computers and printers daily; run test prints to ensure proper functionality.
- Monitor and maintain all lab and printer equipment.
- Troubleshoot any technical issues promptly and efficiently.
- Stay familiar with all equipment for quick problem resolution.
- Track and maintain inventory of paper, ink, and supplies.
- Order or request necessary items to keep operations running smoothly.
Customer Service & Order Fulfillment:
- Ensure digital copies of guest photos are delivered promptly after purchase.
- Respond to customer service emails in a timely and professional manner, including those forwarded from the Oahu team.
Team Management & Sales Support:
- Supervise a team of 6–8 employees including sales associates, greeters, and photographers.
- Support and guide team throughout the day; address guest concerns or questions as they arise.
- Create daily sales images and materials for the team.
- Ensure team stays organized, productive, and on-task throughout the workday.
Operational & Administrative Duties:
- Create and manage staff schedules.
- Track and report monthly totals in a timely manner.
- Complete end-of-day closing procedures, including reconciling and entering all cash sales.
- Ensure all equipment is properly secured and maintained.
- Report equipment issues or operational concerns to the Luau Manager.
- Collaborate closely with the Luau Manager to support overall event success.
- Take lead in photographing the first 100 guests to ensure a smooth and professional start.
Minimum Requirements
Experience:
- 1–2 years of experience in photography, photo editing, or a related field
- Previous experience in a supervisory or team lead role preferred
- Customer service experience required; hospitality or tourism industry experience is a plus
- Familiarity with inventory management or equipment maintenance is a plus
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in Adobe Lightroom (or similar photo editing software)
- Strong understanding of photography composition and lighting
- Comfortable troubleshooting printers, computers, and basic tech issues
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized with strong time management skills
- Detail-oriented and proactive in problem-solving
- Comfortable handling cash and basic sales reporting
Additional Requirements:
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by luau schedule
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs (equipment, supplies, etc.)
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Comfortable working both indoors (photo lab) and outdoors (luau site)
