Project Engineer
Polymer Corporation is a growing, well-financed, $30 million manufacturer of low-volume, close-tolerance, custom plastic parts for blue-chip customers nationwide. Polymer Injection Molding, a division of Polymer Corporation, located in Palmer, MA seeks an experienced Project Engineer who is eager to work in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
JOB SUMMARY :
Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Generate quotations
- Gather information: prints, material pricing, tool price, part volumes
- Develop manufacturing approach (with manufacturing personnel when necessary)
- Complete worksheet, quote template, and submit to client
- Manage new projects
- Conduct first article kickoff meetings
- Communicate schedule for first shots, first articles, materials, and fixtures
- Communicate with client on scheduling and technical issues
- Design and/or obtain all secondary fixtures required
- Review and approve mold designs
- Review, resolve, and submit first article inspection reports to clients
- Possibility for international travel exists for mold trials
- Assist in maintaining existing products
- Work with material suppliers to get correct material for the application
- Assist in the sales process by participating in presentations
- Customer visits
- Trade show support
- Generate part designs when necessary
- Research and Development of new processes when applicable
- REQUIREMENTS
- 5 years of project and / or manufacturing engineering experience within an injection molding machining environment
- 3D Solid Modeling experience is required, Solid Works preferred
- Must be able to multi-task with minimal supervision
- Must be able to communicate professionally with internal and external contacts
- B.S. Degree in Engineering is preferred
- Background and knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Lean and ISO methodologies.
- Advanced Excel skills is required
