Process Engineer

Polymer Industries is seeking a motivated, hands-on Process Engineer to join our manufacturing team. This position will work closely with production, maintenance, quality, and management to improve manufacturing processes, troubleshoot issues, document procedures, and support safe, consistent production.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys working directly with equipment and employees on the production floor.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes, equipment setups, and production methods.
• Work hands-on with production equipment to identify and resolve process-related issues.
• Develop, update, and maintain process documentation, procedures, and equipment setup instructions.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing problems using structured problem-solving techniques.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, efficiency, and process consistency.
• Work closely with production, maintenance, quality, engineering, and management teams.
• Assist with implementation of new processes, equipment, products, and process improvements.
• Monitor processes to ensure products consistently meet quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with employees and leadership at all levels of the organization.
• Support continuous improvement activities throughout the facility.
• Collect, organize, and analyze process and production information using Microsoft Excel and other tools.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Adapt to changing production priorities and provide support where needed.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Minimum 2-year college degree in engineering, engineering technology, manufacturing, mechanical technology, or a related field.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing equipment.
• Willingness and ability to work hands-on in a production environment.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Quality-conscious with strong attention to detail.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to engage and work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and production needs.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in varying manufacturing and environmental conditions.
• Experience with process documentation, equipment setups, and standard work procedures.
• Experience or knowledge of plastics manufacturing is a plus.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable spending time both on the production floor and at a computer. They should enjoy troubleshooting equipment and processes, working directly with operators and maintenance personnel, and taking ownership of projects from identifying a problem through implementing and documenting the solution.
