Job Summary:
The Head Stock Manager oversees all stockroom and shelf replenishment operations in the grocery store. This position is responsible for supervising stock clerks, managing inventory levels, organizing backroom storage, and ensuring shelves are properly stocked, clean, and merchandised according to store standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise stock clerks and ensure efficient stocking and backroom operations.
- Monitor and maintain proper inventory levels and initiate reorders as needed.
- Unload deliveries, verify invoices, and ensure products are accurately received and stored.
- Ensure all items are properly rotated (FIFO), stocked, and merchandised on sales floor.
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe backroom and storage areas.
- Coordinate with appropriate store personnel on inventory needs, promotions, and overstock.
- Train and coach stock clerks on proper handling, stocking, and safety procedures.
- Monitor shrink and help prevent inventory loss or damage.
- Ensure all safety protocols and lifting procedures are followed.
- Participate in inventory counts and maintain accurate stock records.
- Communicate with vendors, store leadership, and delivery personnel as needed.
- Handle customer inquiries regarding product availability or location.
- Open or close store in absence of store or assistant manager (if designated).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior grocery or retail stockroom experience preferred.
- Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and work on feet for extended periods.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and related equipment.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
