Job Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a safe and nurturing classroom learning environment.
- Regularly collaborate with world language department colleagues to develop a proficiency based curriculum, lessons and materials; and to design inclusive learning experiences to inspire every student's love of language learning.
- Develop and implement a world language education curriculum consistent with the 5-C ACTFL World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages and the 2021 Massachusetts Curriculum Framework.
- Develop and implement rigorous, relevant and accessible lesson plans, activities, and learning experiences to ensure meaningful language acquisition for each student.
- Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessment of student learning and progress, analyze results and adjust practice to meet students' needs.
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensure that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Coordinate with other professional staff members, especially within language level team(s), and participate in common planning time, department meetings, and faculty meetings.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of World Languages, Principal, and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to inspire a love of French language learning.
- Ability to foster students' growth mindset as developing language learners and to promote language learning as a life-long skill.
- Knowledge of current, proficiency-based teaching methods and educational pedagogy.
- Advanced knowledge of French in terms of grammar, word usage, word denotations and connotations, and literature.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed (ie: Google Docs, Google Classroom, etc).
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Required Qualifications:
- MA DESE Foreign Language - French 5-12
- Bachelor's from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in related area
- Successful prior world language teaching experience a plus.

Salary is determined by education and experience, ranging from Bachelor’s (Step 1) $12,643 to Doctorate (Step 14) $26,784 (This range is based on a .2 FTE).
