What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Technician position at POLK COUNTY?
Under general supervision, compiles data; assists and monitors highway and bridge projects, inspects work to ensure compliance; prepares computer generated highway and bridge plans; and maintains documentation for a variety of reports.
Essential Duties:
- Prepares computer generated highway plans referencing field survey data or department manuals and ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Monitors and assists co-workers in the inspection of work completed by private contractors in highway projects to assure compliance with plans, standards, specifications, special requirements, codes and regulations. Maintains documentation for progress reports, diaries, quantities and payment reports. Provides information and technical support to contractors or landowners.
- Compiles data including topography, geology, land use and landowners as part of survey crew for the design and construction of present and future highway and bridge projects.
- Engages and actively participates in training courses and on-the-job training to become fully credentialed
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
