The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is seeking applications for a full-time Deputy Sheriff Patrol I - II position. Applicants must have an Associate’s/Technical degree in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement or an equivalent combination of education and experience. State of MN (POST) License or (POST) license eligible by date of hire, and a valid driver’s license is required. The primary duties for this position include taking calls for service, patrolling all roads within Polk County, serving civil papers, transporting prisoners, court security, enforcing the law, and protection of life and property within Polk County.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office offers a wide variety of opportunities, which include Patrol, Investigations, Drug Task Force, (SWAT, Negotiations, bomb squad in combination with Grand Forks Regional Emergency Response team), Boat and Water/Snowmobile/ATV safety/TZD grant shifts, and Drone Pilot. There are also opportunities to be an Instructor in Field Training Officer, Firearms, Taser, Less Lethal, and Defensive Tactics.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office now offers a sign-on incentive. Any new employee hired on or before December 31st, 2027, will qualify for a $2,000.00 sign-on incentive, plus an additional $500.00 for successfully completing the probationary period (12 months or 2080 hours worked, whichever is greater). Up to an additional $2,500.00 in incentives will be paid under this program for continued service, consisting of $500 payments every six months (July and December).
