Essential Tasks:
This department’s area of focus is: Domestic Violence
- Attend court hearings and accurately reduce judicial ruling to written orders and judgments.
- Support judges, attorneys, other agencies in the judicial system, and the public as needed, including preparation of evidence lists, court notices, orders, directions, judgments, and other documents, administering oaths, and distributing copies, as needed.
- Accurately prepare documents before court and perform follow-up support duties.
- Will be required to come to work early and stay late depending on court schedule.
- Will occasionally be required to travel to other court locations to attend hearings.
- The role requires periodic on-call duty, rotating with other team members, to ensure 24/7 coverage for critical services in Domestic Violence and Risk Protection Orders.
- Process writs of bodily attachment and withdrawals, subpoenas, and notices according to procedure/instruction.
- Assist customers in the DIY room with completing injunction petitions on a form generating application. Prepare ex-parte orders for Temporary Injunctions according to the judges’ instructions and assist customers with Violation of Injunction process.
- Maintain confidentiality of information learned or acquired as part of the position.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Learn and understand multiple applications related to the position.
- Perform other related work as required or assigned.
Minimum Skills / Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with departmental teams and external agencies to prioritize workflows, organize tasks, and manage competing demands to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and write routine correspondence and reports.
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to accurately type 35 wpm.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail and to remain calm in an anxious, intense environment.
- Demonstrate strong professional communication skills in both oral and written form with the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently to effectively interact with colleagues and customers.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Demonstrate the ability to rapidly acquire or possess comprehensive knowledge of departmental procedures, overall operations, and workflows. Execute thorough research using provided resource materials to ensure strict compliance with Clerk policies, departmental guidelines, and Florida Statutes.
- Adapt to evolving operational requirements by applying Florida Statutes, departmental guidelines, Clerk policies, and the Clerk’s Mission Statement; demonstrate flexibility in implementing new policies and procedures while maintaining high performance amidst changing conditions.
- Being able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with departmental teams and external agencies to prioritize workflows, organize tasks, and manage competing demands to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- External candidates must be able to pass an NCIC background check, drug screen, and physical exam.
- This position offers a six-month training period.
