Position Summary

Stewards are responsible for washing dishes, silverware, glasses, and other kitchen serviceware and equipment following established Politan Row procedures. This position is also responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, and upkeep of the market and related equipment. Stewards may also assist with exterior building cleanliness, dining room/restroom cleanliness, trash removal, and other duties assigned by management.

Responsibilities, Duties, Functions, and Tasks

• Follows all company safety rules, policies, and procedures.

• Stack clean, dry china in designated areas

• Rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher

• Keep the assigned area clean and free of debris

• Wipe down and clean prep tables and refrigerators

• Ensure the floor is debris-free

• Keep shelving clean for dishes

• Maintain general cleanliness of the kitchen, Market, offices, storerooms, and restrooms

• Cleaning windows, vents, walls, baseboards, trashcan exterior/interior, bar mats, equipment, tables, vent hood system, and exterior of the building.

• Working on small repair and maintenance projects.

• Assisting with larger-scale projects over multiple days.

• All other duties as needed.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older

• One (1) year of experience as a bartender in a similar environment

• High school diploma or GED

• Basic mathematical skills to handle money and give correct change.

• Knowledgable of all forms of bar food, basic classic cocktails, and other beverages

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED

• Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply divide

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Ability to speak and hear, vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

• Constant standing, sitting and walking

• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).

• Be able to reach, bend, and stoop.

• Be able to lift up to 35 lbs.

• Regularly required to use hands and frequent washing of hands.

• Employee may be frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles

• Employee will work with moving mechanical parts and vibrations

• The noise level in this work environment can be loud.

• Ability to work both early morning and late nights.
