Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Floor Technician to join our environmental services team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of various flooring surfaces across commercial and institutional facilities. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, hygienic, and professional environment for staff and visitors. Prior janitorial or custodial experience, especially in commercial cleaning and floor care, is highly valued. The position offers an opportunity to develop specialized skills in floor maintenance, including carpet cleaning and buffing, within a supportive team environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of floors, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming carpets.
- Conduct floor care procedures such as buffing, stripping, sealing, and waxing to preserve the appearance and longevity of flooring surfaces.
- Utilize appropriate cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and effectively.
- Address specific cleaning needs for different flooring types, including tile, vinyl, hardwood, and carpeted areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, including storage closets and equipment rooms.
- Follow established safety protocols to prevent slips, trips, and falls during floor care activities.
- Report any maintenance issues or damages to supervisors promptly for repair or replacement.
Requirements
- Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or environmental services preferred.
- Knowledge of floor care techniques such as carpet cleaning, buffing, stripping, sealing, and waxing.
- Experience with cleaning equipment and chemicals used in commercial cleaning environments.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety standards.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to established procedures.
- Good physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks involving standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and operating cleaning machinery.
- Reliable work ethic with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and professionalism.
