Qualifications:
At least 21 YEARS of age at the time of application. NCPD does not impose a maximum age-limit to apply or work as an NCPD Officer.
Graduation from a U.S. High School, G.E.D., or equivalent from a U.S. institution.
CITIZENSHIP
The State of South Carolina requires that Police Officers be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law.
*You do not have to be a resident of North Charleston to apply for or work as an NCPD Officer.
Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License. (Out-of-State applicants must have a valid license for their home state and obtain a S.C. License before their start date.)
Must have good employment and credit history. (No Civil Judgements or Defaulted Student Loans.)
Must be in good physical and mental condition.
Are required to undergo a polygraph examination, physical examination, drug screening, and psychological evaluation.
Are required to submit to a physical agilities test (PAT).
Are required to take a reading/vocabulary test.
NCPD Officers are entrusted with responsibility to keep our cities safe from crime and corruption. Therefore, a history of ethical and moral behavior is of the utmost importance. Your background will be looked at very closely. You will be subjected to an extensive background check.
