About the Organization:
The Police Athletic League (or PAL) is New York City’s largest independent youth development organization. We operate diverse programs from Head Start, Day Car and Universal Pre-K programs; to elementary and middle school after-school programs, summer day camps and summer Playstreets. We run evening teen centers and college readiness programs, as well as youth employment and juvenile justice programs. In its over a century of service, PAL is continuing its evolution and remains a vibrant and vital New York City institution.
Position Summary:
The Head Baseball League Coach/Administrator is responsible for leading and coordinating a youth baseball league serving adolescent participants. This role oversees all aspects of team planning, instruction, and league operations while creating a safe, inclusive, and positive environment that supports skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
This position combines on-field coaching with administrative leadership and requires strong organization, communication, and youth engagement skills.
Pay & Commitment:

$28.00 per hour.

Availability to work consistently for the full 21-week season

7-hour shifts, 2 days per week

Core Responsibilities
Youth Coaching & Instruction

Plan and lead practices, games, and league activities focused on adolescent skill development

Provide age-appropriate baseball instruction emphasizing fundamentals, teamwork, and fair play

Model positive behavior, sportsmanship, and respectful communication

Foster a welcoming, inclusive team culture where all participants feel supported
Program & League Administration

Coordinate team rosters, schedules, and weekly programming logistics

Supervise assistant coaches and support staff during league operations

Serve as the primary on-site leader and point of contact for participants, staff, and families

Track attendance and support smooth daily program operations
Safety, Operations & Compliance

Ensure participant safety and adherence to program policies and guidelines

Support equipment setup, breakdown, and general field organization

Address participant or parent concerns professionally and escalate as needed
Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in coaching baseball, preferably with youth or adolescents

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

Ability to manage groups of adolescents in an active setting

Commitment to youth development, inclusion, and positive behavior management
