Full Time CustodianJOB DESCRIPTION:Polaris Tech is seeking a full time Custodian to take care of our building and carry out cleaning and light maintenance duties to ensure the health and safety of students and staff.This position reports to the Director of Finance and Operations.Essential Job Functions:Stock and maintain supply rooms Follow all health and safety regulations Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables Clean mirrors, window and stainless steel areas Use floor machine daily on Multi Purpose room floor and wellness track Ensure all equipment used is cleaned and put away after useSecondary Job Functions (in the event the Maintenance staff is unavailable):Assist with performing routine inspections and minor maintenance activities Notify Management of occurring deficiencies and/or needs for repairs Report major damages to appropriate staff to ensure repair is completed in a timely manner Assist with maintaining furniture and facility inventory Assist with summer maintenance and repairs including heavy duty cleaning, inventory update, rental of lifts and equipment necessary for all projects, painting and all facility repairs to prepare the building for new students in the fall All other duties as assignedJob Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets Integrity and ability to work independently High school degree Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices Diagnostic skillsSkills, Knowledge and Abilities:SKILLS: Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:adhering to safety practices; operating small equipment; diagnostic.KNOWLEDGE: Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: fundamentals of cleaning, painting, electrical, landscaping and plumbing work.
