Process Development Chemist

Purpose This position is responsible for assisting with research and development, validations of testing methods, and documentation. Work closely with QSM to ensure proper documentation of validation, uncertainty, and proficiency testing.Essential Functions Weight of associated position responsibility, duty or task to successful performance:15%Complete activities associated with document management:Maintain current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) in files for the organization and binder for the Indianapolis facilityMaintain chemical inventoriesCreate documentation, work instructions, forms, etc. as needed for new and existing proceduresCreate Excel spreadsheets to document research results15%Enter data into various spreadsheets on a routine basis25%Complete activities associated with supplies management:Assist in procuring materials for the departmentAssist in assessing potential equipment purchasesInspect, maintain and repair laboratory equipment45%Provide Research Chemist SupportConduct test to validate analytical proceduresAssist with PT process for all labsAssist with evaluation of apparatus and methods to determine feasibility of additional in-house testingPerform routine lab analysis as necessaryAssist in safety complianceSpecific Job Knowledge, Skill and AbilityThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.Ability to work autonomously Effective management of time and deadlinesAdvanced organizational skills (both physical and electronic organization)Required QualificationsIntermediate knowledge Excel Chemistry degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience requiredPreferred QualificationsThe preferred qualifications desired in terms of education, course concentration, work experience, technical knowledge and desired advanced certifications.Practical industrial or academic research laboratory experienceOther DutiesAdherence and support of the POLARIS Employee Handbook inclusive of the Standards of ConductLearn and support the Quality Management SystemLearn and support POLARIS Lean InitiativesOther duties as assignedSafety RequirementsOSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety. Salary : $50,000 - $70,000
