What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Worker position at Polaris Engineering?
I. SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Supports the Maintenance Department within the paint facility by performing general labor duties, housekeeping, material handling, equipment support, and assisting maintenance personnel with daily tasks. This position helps maintain safe, clean, and efficient facility operations while supporting maintenance and repair activities throughout the plant.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist maintenance personnel with general labor and support tasks
• Perform facility housekeeping in maintenance shops, paint areas, and surrounding work zones
• Clean equipment, tools, work areas, and maintenance-related materials
• Move, stage, and organize tools, parts, materials, and equipment
• Assist with setup and teardown of maintenance jobs and repair work
• Perform pressure washing, scraping, sweeping, shoveling, and cleanup duties
• Support preventative maintenance activities as directed
• Assist with spill cleanup and waste disposal following environmental and safety procedures
• Operate basic hand tools and equipment safely
• Assist mechanics, technicians, painters, and contractors as needed
• Maintain safe working conditions and follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
• Perform other duties assigned by supervision
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous industrial labor, maintenance, or facility support experience preferred
• Ability to work in an industrial paint facility environment and maintenance activities
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Strong work ethic and reliable attendance required
• Team-oriented and dependable
• Safety-conscious mindset
• Flexible and willing to assist where needed
• Good communication and cooperation skills
V. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:
Reports to the Maintenance Site Manager
VI. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and carrying
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to wear required PPE including respirators, gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, and protective clothing
