Summary:
This role involves working with Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA), a global leader in advanced printing technologies. As a KBA Press Helper, you will support the KBA Press Operator in make-ready, operation, and maintenance of the sheet-fed press while actively learning and mastering the offset printing process. Under the direction of the Operator, you will assist with setup, adjustments, cleaning, and quality checks required for efficient and accurate press runs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide support to the KBA Press Operator to ensure seamless workflow and operational efficiency.
- Assist with press make-ready including inserting packing sheets, installing plates and blankets, and fastening reinforcing bars.
- Perform setup adjustments on feeder and delivery mechanisms, suction grippers, side and front guides, feed wheels, and jogging devices using hand tools.
- Clean ink fountains, wash blankets, and clean rollers using solvents and press cleaning mechanisms.
- Remove and replace worn rollers and assist with pressure adjustments between rollers.
- Use micrometers and other tools to properly mount and align printing plates.
- Assist in making necessary color and register corrections and press adjustments prior to and during production runs to meet quality standards.
- Operate the press under supervision, with a focus on safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Adhere to written job specifications and deadlines, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Perform basic routine maintenance and minor repairs as directed by the Operator.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and commitment to quality in all aspects of work.
- Support housekeeping and safe work practices in accordance with Pointsmith and OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to meet production goals.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance with a flexible schedule to meet business needs.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience as an assistant sheetfed press operator preferred.
- Web and sheetfed press experience beneficial.
- Must be able to pass an Ishihara Color Blind Test.
- Ability to read and follow written job specifications and press instructions.
- Skilled in using hand tools for press adjustments and maintenance.
- Basic understanding of offset presswork procedures and materials.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications.
- Strong command of the English language for clear and effective communication.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
