Role Description
The Ballast Regulator Operator plays a key role in the construction and maintenance of railroad tracks. Daily responsibilities include the operation of ballast regulating machinery to distribute gravel evenly along the track and ensure proper surfacing for stability and safety. Additional duties may involve inspecting equipment, identifying maintenance needs, and safely operating machinery in compliance with company standards and safety regulations. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX. Some traveling is required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating ballast regulators or similar heavy machinery is required.
- Familiarity with railroad construction and maintenance work processes and safety protocols.
- Strong mechanical aptitude to perform equipment inspections and basic repairs.
- Physical ability to operate machinery and perform manual tasks in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
- Commitment to adhering to safety regulations and procedures at all times.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts and travel as needed to project sites.
- Valid driver’s license, and CDL is preferred but not required.
- Prior experience in railroading or construction industries is a plus.
