Overview


Point Source Youth (PSY) is a national leader in the movement to prevent and end youth homelessness. Since 2015, we’ve partnered with communities to scale direct cash transfers, as prevention, Targeted Housing Assistance Program, and Direct Cash Transfers for housing, and other evidence-based strategies that center the agency of young people, especially BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S youth, preventing and ending youth homelessness. Our work spans research, policy, advocacy, and implementation, culminating each year in our National Symposium on Solutions to End Youth Homelessness.


We seek a seasoned, strategic, and driven leader to serve as our Director of Program Development and Growth. This Los Angeles-based role will focus on expanding and deepening our partnerships, presence, and impact across California, starting with Los Angeles. This person knows how to confidently lead program implementation, build lasting relationships, and secure funding. They can see the big picture while executing on the details and are ready to hit the ground running.


Responsibilities


Program Expansion & Implementation (45%)

  • Secure/manage $750K–$1M annually in diversified funding.
  • Lead adoption and growth of prevention strategies, especially Targeted Housing.
  • Scale Direct Cash Transfer (DCT) and Targeted Housing Assistance in Los Angeles and other communities.
  • Build/manage partnerships with CBOs, youth-led groups, government, and philanthropy.
  • Act as relationship manager for DCT programs, offering technical assistance and funder support.
  • Adapt programs to local needs with clear goals and sustainability plans.
  • Track/evaluate outcomes to guide decisions and strengthen models.
  • Develop tools/resources to replicate PSY’s models.
  • Write/lead major grant proposals, reports, and renewals.


Learning & Capacity Building (40%)

  • Advance PSY’s National Prevention Learning Collaborative (NPLC) through content, speakers, and engagement.
  • Facilitate webinars, convenings, and peer learning to share best practices.
  • Produce tools/resources translating research into actionable frameworks.
  • Ensure LA/California partners and youth leaders are integrated nationally.
  • Co-lead convenings to share innovations and elevate youth leadership.


Field Leadership & External Relations (10%)

  • Represent PSY at conferences, coalitions, and convenings.
  • Create presentations highlighting youth voice and program outcomes.
  • Partner with Communications on outreach, media, and campaigns.


Internal Operations (5%)

  • Manage budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate records (timesheets, expenses, invoices, reports).
  • Contribute to cross-functional and strategic planning efforts.


Goals for Success


Within 3–6 Months

  • Build strong LA/California partnerships.
  • Take ownership of 3–4 community projects.
  • Lead/co-lead a successful grant proposal or renewal.
  • Represent PSY at external events and integrate CA voices into NPLC.


Within 6–12 Months

  • Raise $750K–$1M in new/renewed funding.
  • Launch/expand 4–5 DCT or housing projects.
  • Develop a sustainable CA scaling strategy.
  • Deliver impactful NPLC programming and funder reports.
  • Grow PSY’s visibility in CA.


Within 12–18 Months

  • Renew funding and expand to new communities.
  • Secure $1M in funding and public partnerships.
  • Scale prevention practices nationally via NPLC.
  • Expand storytelling and data to show cost-benefit evidence.


Long-Term Impact

  • Position PSY as a leading partner in 5 communities.
  • Build sustainable, equity-driven, youth-centered programs.
  • Expand visibility and credibility of DCT/prevention strategies nationally.


Qualifications

  • 8 years in youth homelessness, housing justice, philanthropy, or systems change (lived experience strongly valued).
  • Proven success in program expansion and securing $750K in funding.
  • Knowledge of California housing/homelessness systems.
  • Strong fundraising, grant-writing, and funder relationship skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building, political acumen, and communication.
  • Experience facilitating collaborative learning spaces.
  • Commitment to racial equity, youth leadership, and harm reduction.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, entrepreneurial settings.
  • Proficiency with project management, CRM, and budgeting tools.
  • Willingness to travel up to 35%.


Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $115,000–$135,000, determined by experience and internal equity. Benefits include 100% employer-paid health insurance (employee), 75% coverage for dependents, full dental/vision, a funded Healthcare Spending Account, 401(k) with 4% match, monthly home office/cell stipend, and generous time off (15 vacation days, 10 sick days, plus 3 weeks office closure).


Location Requirement

Remote, but candidate must live within commuting distance of Los Angeles, CA, for in-person meetings and events.


Other Details

  • Full-time permanent role.
  • Primarily sedentary, with occasional movement required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship).
