Job Summary

Point Pleasant Plumsteadville EMS is seeking motivated and dependable Paramedics to join our team. Our Paramedics provide high-quality emergency medical care and advanced life support services in a rural and suburban 911 EMS environment.

This position is ideal for a provider who is clinically confident, adaptable, professional, and comfortable working in a setting where EMS providers may manage complex calls with limited immediate resources. Our service area includes residential communities, rural roads, farms, wooded areas, commercial locations, schools, public events, and mutual aid responses.

Paramedics at Point Pleasant Plumsteadville EMS work closely with fire departments, rescue companies, law enforcement, dispatch, hospitals, and other public safety partners to provide coordinated emergency response, rescue support, and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

Paramedics are responsible for providing advanced life support care in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Health EMS protocols, medical command direction, and agency policies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responding to emergency calls for service in rural and suburban response areas.
  • Providing advanced assessment and treatment of sick and injured patients.
  • Performing ALS skills within the paramedic scope of practice.
  • Administering medications and performing procedures in accordance with protocol.
  • Supporting rescue operations, including motor vehicle crashes, technical rescue incidents, fireground operations, search and rescue responses, and other public safety incidents.
  • Operating in environments that may include farms, wooded areas, rural roadways, residences, industrial settings, and prolonged scene operations.
  • Working with fire, rescue, police, emergency management, and hospital partners to ensure safe and effective incident operations.
  • Operating cardiac monitors, defibrillators, IV pumps, airway equipment, stretchers, and other EMS equipment.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, dispatch, hospital staff, fire departments, law enforcement, and other public safety partners.
  • Completing accurate and timely patient care reports and required documentation.
  • Maintaining ambulance readiness, including vehicle, equipment, medication, and supply checks.
  • Assisting with cleaning, restocking, station duties, and operational tasks.
  • Participating in training, continuing education, drills, standbys, and quality improvement activities.
  • Representing Point Pleasant Plumsteadville EMS in a professional manner at all times.

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • Current Pennsylvania Paramedic certification.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Current PALS or equivalent pediatric advanced life support certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain EMSVO certification.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and clearances.
  • Strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in high-stress and rapidly changing environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred but not required:

  • Previous 911 EMS experience.
  • Rural EMS experience.
  • EMSVO or EVOC certification.
  • PHTLS, ITLS, or equivalent trauma certification.
  • TECC, RTF/ASHER, or tactical EMS training.
  • Fireground rehab, rescue task force, or rescue operations experience.
  • Experience with electronic patient care reporting systems.
  • Familiarity with Bucks County EMS operations and regional hospitals.
  • Preceptor, field training, leadership, or quality improvement experience.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Lift, carry, push, and pull patients and EMS equipment.
  • Perform CPR and other lifesaving interventions.
  • Bend, kneel, climb, crawl, and work in difficult environments.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions.
  • Operate safely at emergency scenes, roadways, firegrounds, rescue incidents, and extended operations.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Function during day, night, weekend, holiday, and extended shifts.
