Deliver best in class thinking and service to the oil and gas, marine, and energy markets through listening, applying intelligence and responding, every time The Fabrication Department is responsible for creating high quality manufactured materials to client specifications for all Mission Critical Group products, primarily using sheet metal. The overall objective of this position is to align, fit, and weld fabricated sheet metal parts of our products per drawing specification, and ensure accuracy and compliance with quality standards. Consistent and accurate modeling and representing of the Mission Critical Group brand, mission, vision, values and organizational strategy are essential to achieving the goals of the organization.
Accountabilities
- Support the effort of being a best‐in‐class manufacturer through the fabrication of high quality products that exceed our clients’ expectations by:
- Applying technical knowledge to review engineering drawings and determine requirements and specifications needed for the fabrication of the sheet metal structures of our product.
- Following blueprints and layout specifications, to position, align and fit parts to for quality and efficient square and tack welding within tolerance.
- Setting up welding machine for proper wire speed to produce a quality weld for different materials and thicknesses.
- Welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions and then examining the welds for quality specifications, including proper bead sizes.
- Cleaning welds using hand scrappers, grinders, and sanders, as required, to prepare surfaces for painting.
- Proficiently operating a cutting torch, band saw, ironworker, grinder and other fabricating equipment, as required.
- Maintaining a safe, clean and well organized work area.
- Proficiently weld mild steel material with MIG.
- Ensuring quality and efficiency by completing the job task faster than estimated hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Attributes
Required Knowledge / Experience
- 3 years of experience in sheet‐metal fabrication or welding
- Intrapersonal Skills: Self‐motivated and able to identify, examine, and resolve issues independently from others. Hold a strong regard for guidelines, procedures and integrity.
- Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Tools include: welding machine, grander, sander, basic hand tools (hammers, clamps, etc.), forklift, overhead crane, ironworker, cutting torch and bandsaw.
- Technical Experience: Ability to read and process drawings and cut‐sheet packages. Proficient in measuring, squaring and math skills. Ability to MIG or Flux‐core weld.
- Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming such as Microsoft Office Business Suite.
- Verbal & Written Communication Skills: Minimum Skills (Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‐on‐one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.).
- Math Skills: This position requires minimal skills (add, subtract, etc.).
- Arm‐Hand Steadiness: The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
- Visualization: The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged.
- Manual Dexterity: The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
- This is a FLSA non-exempt position paid on an hourly basis. Overtime may be required based on production demands, including extended shift, weekends or holidays.
- This role is based on the production floor. The position requires standing for extended periods, working around machinery, and adherence to all safety and compliance standards.
- Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.
- Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to fifty (50) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards.
- Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.
