What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Veterinary Technician position at Point Breeze Veterinary Clinic, Inc.?
We are a family-owned, seven-doctor small animal veterinary clinic in need of a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team. The perfect candidate is well-rounded, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and eager to learn. The candidate should also feel comfortable with the following tasks:
- Refill and handle prescriptions, foods, and supplements
- Using veterinary medical software and other technology
- Using Gmail, Microsoft Office, and Google Documents
- Assisting veterinarians in appointments, including setting up the patient's medical record and taking history from the owner
- Drawing blood and performing x-rays
- Administering medication, vaccinations, and other treatments
- Restraining patients
- Cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, bathrooms, and other general tasks to maintain a healthy, safe work environment
- Answering phone calls and emails in a kind yet efficient manner
- Screening and scheduling appointments
- Handling payments via credit card, check, and cash
The candidate should have excellent customer service capabilities, compassion, empathy, interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal with the stress of working in a fast-paced veterinary clinic. The candidate should also possess the ability to restrain and lift cats and dogs (up to 50 pounds without assistance), an aptitude for new technology and software, and the capability to problem-solve and communicate efficiently.
