JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
The CAD Drafter Intern is responsible for the development of complete and accurate 2D CAD models, drawings, and design documents for systems using AutoCAD and other Computer Aided Design software tools. The CAD Drafter Intern works under the close guidance of experienced CAD Drafters, Designers and Engineers to create proper construction documents for field use and to develop knowledge and skills. The CAD Drafter Intern is required to have knowledge of AutoCAD and it’s commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
This is an on-site role located in Sioux Falls, SD. Responsibilities include:
- Create and modify 2D and 3D CAD drawings and CAD models.
- Create and modify assembly, erection, fabrication, detail, and other drawings; modify drawings based on mark-ups from Experienced CAD Drafters or Designers, Engineers, and Managers.
- Maintain CAD files and drawings based on Standards and office procedures.
- Read and comprehend design drawings and equipment data sheets.
- Meet all safety, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Must have a basic understanding of Windows Explorer and how to create, maintain, and organize numerous folders and files.
- Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
- Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.
- Since we’re all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skill may be put to a lot of other uses!
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completed some CAD Drafting classes or equivalent CAD experience, preferred.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD-based drafting systems, preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organization and time management skills with a sense of urgency that drives results.
- Knowledge of the basics of the Microsoft Office Suite and the ability of learning new programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role has some physical requirements that our team members will need to be able to perform, such as:
- Sitting for approximately 90% of the time while working on a personal computer.
- Occasionally lifting weight up to sixty (60) pounds or less.
- Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders.
- Occasionally bending, twisting, and turning while lifting weights of less than fifty (50) pounds.
- Walking of two (2) or more miles per day.
- Working at heights, in confined spaces, and at temperatures from -20 to 100 degrees.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment at POET is dynamic. You should expect a balance between time spent in the office and at the bioprocessing facility, which may include some physical labor helping your team members
