What we are looking for:
Poe & Associates is actively seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation team in either of our Oklahoma City or Tulsa offices. The primary focus of this role will be to design and develop traffic engineering projects, traffic studies, and operational analyses and traffic models. This position will also collaborate with our Roadway project managers, project engineers and designers in preparation of project plans and participate in project pursuits.
What you will do:
- Collaborate with transportation design team members on multi-discipline projects
- Assist in marketing activities including project proposals and presentations
- Develop scope of work and estimate level of effort for projects
- Schedule project activities and maintain project schedules
- Develop present and future traffic volumes for use in design
- Prepare project plans including traffic signal design, signing and striping plans, and construction work zone plans
- Conduct analyses of present and future traffic operations at intersections, at development sites, or along corridors.
- Prepare summary reports of analysis findings and recommended improvements
- Utilize software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, and VISSIM to create traffic simulations and models
- Mentor, train, and provide feedback to traffic team members
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience
- Professional engineering license
- Experience with traffic analysis, design, and studies
- Experience working with traffic engineering software including HCS, VISSIM, and Synchro
- Familiar with standards and methodologies outlined in the MUTCD and HCM
- Experience with AutoCad or Microstation CAAD software platforms, Microstation preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred experience and qualifications:
- Prior work experience with Oklahoma Department of Transportation
- Experience in lighting design
- Familiarity with Highway Safety Manual
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification
- Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design
