Asphalt Paving Superintendent

Poe Asphalt is seeking an experienced and motivated Asphalt Paving Superintendent to join our Post Falls team. We are looking for a strong field leader who takes pride in building successful crews, maintaining high-quality work, and leading projects safely and efficiently from start to finish.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment, leads by example, communicates effectively, and understands the importance of accountability, teamwork, and production.

Position Summary:

The Paving Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all phases of asphalt paving operations, including field leadership, crew management, production, scheduling, quality control, safety, and communication between field and office personnel. This individual will play a key leadership role in driving project success while fostering a positive and professional team culture.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Promote strong leadership, accountability, professionalism, and teamwork on every project
• Serve as the primary field leader and point of contact for paving operations
• Coordinate daily schedules, manpower, materials, and equipment needs
• Ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently
• Communicate clear expectations with all crew members
• Maintain and monitor a culture of safety, production, and quality
• Identify field challenges proactively and make real-time operational decisions
• Mentor and develop foremen to strengthen leadership within the company
• Hold crews accountable for attendance, production, safety, and quality standards
• Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and schedules
• Maintain accurate daily reports including production, labor, equipment, and materials
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with inspectors, contractors, suppliers, and customers
• Support a positive company culture both on and off the jobsite

Qualifications:

• Minimum 7/10 years of asphalt paving, road construction, or heavy civil construction experience
• Previous superintendent or paving foreman preferred
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and manage crews effectively
• Extensive knowledge of asphalt paving operations, grading, compaction, and paving best practices
• Strong understanding of construction safety standards and jobsite management
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to adapt quickly and make sound decisions under pressure
• Strong work ethic and willingness to lead by example
• Clean driving record

Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience, leadership skills, paving expertise, and overall qualifications. Starting pay range $45-$50/hour.
