Job Title: Sales Manager

Compensation: $75,000–85,000 10% Bonus
Reports to: Sales Director

Job Overview: Historically an audiobook publisher, Podium expanded into ebooks and print-on-demand in late 2021, and in spring 2024 partnered with Ingram’s Two Rivers for traditional print distribution. As our print business continues to grow, we have an immediate opening for a sales manager to act as secondary liaison with the Two Rivers sales team as well as our offset printing partners. The sales manager will report to the sales director and work closely with the publishing, marketing, and finance teams.
Responsibilities
- Help manage Two Rivers relationship, acting as secondary contact and participating in regular meetings with client relations manager
- Work with acquisitions directors to draft key selling points and research and assign print comp titles
- Collaborate with marketing team to create high-impact sales materials including tip sheets, catalogs, and presentation decks as needed
- Co-lead presentation of Podium titles at seasonal sales conferences and ad hoc pitch meetings
- Provide feedback to marketing and publishing teams on items such as pricing, cover design, and PR campaigns
- Execute galley and advance copy mailings to select bookstores and librarians as well as Ingram account reps
- Submit quote requests and purchase orders to offset printers, and maintain daily comms re: print schedules, quality control, etc.
- Monitor inbound shipping notifications, warehouse dates, etc., to guarantee on-time delivery of products to market
- Help manage frontlist and backlist inventory per jeopardy report, and determine when to switch offset titles to POD in consultation with sales director
- Utilize Ingram iQ and Circana BookScan to deliver regular reporting on print performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 5 years’ trade book sales experience (direct experience with Ingram preferred)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as advanced analytical skills
- Ability to juggle multiple and varied tasks in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing effectively to meet deadlines
- Deep understanding of traditional publishing practices coupled with a willingness to break the mold #KeepPodiumWeird
Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based work setting
- Must be able to work onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from our office in El Segundo
- Work hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to walk, stand, and move around the office as needed
