Job Overview: We are seeking a Royalty Coordinator to join our growing and fun finance team in Los Angeles! This role will be reporting to the Royalty Manager and will contribute to the day-to-day operations of the full-cycle royalties management process. This includes playing a critical role in reviewing author agreement terms, managing and maintaining the royalty and payment systems, processing author royalty payments, and delivering accurate and timely royalty statements.
Responsibilities
- Calculate and issue monthly royalty payments and statements to 2,500 authors and agencies on over 11,000 titles.
- Obtain, prepare, and reconcile distributor sales files for ingestion.
- Assist with monthly royalty validations and corrections.
- Manage royalty advance payments on a weekly basis.
- Manage and maintain the royalty system (BiblioLive), payment system (BILL), and the related flow of data through to the accounting system (QuickBooks)
- Review author contracts to ensure proper royalty terms are met.
- Collect and update appropriate tax information for payments.
- Assist with inquiries from authors, agents, and internal teams.
- Organize new foreign subrights deals in royalty system and track payments.
- Assist with month-end close and yearly audit, including gathering royalty data information and account reconciliations.
- Ad hoc projects as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based work setting.
- Must be able to work onsite Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from our office in El Segundo.
- General work hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with the ability to work outside of normal hours for monthly close and time-sensitive projects.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to walk, stand, and move around the office as needed.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of related work experience with royalties, participations, distributions, and/or contract management, preferably in the audiobook or publishing industry.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, recognized institution.
- Experience with working BiblioLive or similar royalty management systems.
- Extremely detailed oriented, ensuring royalty calculations are accurate and paid timely.
- Strong data management and analytical skills to identify issues and problem-solve effectively.
- Growth mindset; ability to contribute to assessing and improving core processes as the volume and complexity grows.
- Ability to create, maintain, and build professional relationships and rapport.
- Can communicate and present data in a clear manner.
- Flexible and collaborative; able to work optimally in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks and BILL.com or similar GL and payment systems.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Excel to create reports with large data sets.
- A collaborative mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Salary : $75,000 - $80,000
