Job Summary
The Children and Youth Program Director of Pocket Presbyterian Church is responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive program of Christian education to children and youth, from pre-K through high school.
Responsibilities
1. Provide guidance to all school-age levels of Sunday School to enhance the learning experience as applicable.
2. Explore and recommend curriculum for Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Confirmation classes, and the Pocket Pathfinders youth program.
3. Work with the Children and Youth Formation Committees to coordinate relevant activities.
4. Seek out adult volunteers and provide volunteer training as needed as well as follow through with background checks.
5. Work with the Vacation Bible School Planning Team to review and select programs, select volunteers, and establish the week-long event
6. Coordinate seasonal children’s ministry events such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Trunk-or-Treat, and the Children’s Christmas Program.
7. Coordinates summer mission trips and activities for older youth in cooperation with the pastor, Session, parents, and volunteer youth leaders.
8. Attends monthly Session meetings and provides reports of activities related to Youth and Children Christian education.
9. Maintain records of activities for annual reports to the Session.
10. Other duties as required, including but not limited to the expectation of worship attendance when needed, children's moment, children's church, or coordinating youth participation in the worship service.
Personal and Professional Qualifications
Personal: Demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, worship and study. Ability to share faith with others. Relates well with congregants of all ages.
Education: Minimum of an associate or bachelor’s degree in an educational field with preference in Christian Education.
Experience: 3 – 5 years teaching and directing educational activities in a Christian setting or a combination of education, training, and experience.
Certifications: TBD
Other: Basic computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in a church volunteer leadership role preferred. Valid drivers’ license. Background check required.
Terms
Length: 12 month position; renewable annually
Hours: Part-time, average 20 hours per week
Vacation: 4 weeks of vacation per year (equal to number hours worked per week)
Study Leave: 1 week per year
